I’m Caroline, and this is my corner of the Internet. I’ve wanted my own small plot of digital land for some time, but I kept procrastinating it for 2 reasons:
- Writing is a lot of work.
- The technical task of creating and maintaining a website is a lot of work.
But it’s time to stop being such a perfectionist about it and just get something out there. I’m not quite sure what this will be yet. I’ve already tried the whole Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Notion, Substack, so on and so forth deal of looking for a platform. While those tools definitely have their uses, I want a website I can truly call my own. Kaylee Rowena has a good post about the value of creating your own website.
What this website will be like, I don’t know yet. I really love Maggie Appleton’s posts on digital gardens and would love to have one. I think blogs are a pretty flawed way to organize content. I’d like to put up some of my various projects in the future, but as my fellow designers know, portfolios are a never-ending work-in-progress. For now, I’m just trying to get in the habit of externalizing my thoughts more often instead of letting them continue to be unstructured brain noise.
